The most-used passwords of the year are out and you’ll probably guess what they are
A digital password is like your home’s security system – a strong password has the right type of window and door locks and an electric fence to dissuade intruders getting in. Weak passwords are like a house with all the doors and windows open, while the resident naps on the couch by the window for any passer-by to see.
The latest list of weak passwords, compiled by SplashData is so terrible, some of them might as well just label their digital presence “Hack me”.
That’s the edited highlights, but there’s a list of 100, if you want to check whether “strongpassword69” makes the list – spoiler alert, it doesn’t. We know that finding the right password can be tricky, but really!
My Mum has just been trying to log into her new email account with the password weak, after Google told her her password is weak.
