Everyone’s mocking how Michael Owen congratulated SPOTY winner Emma Raducanu – 23 winning replies
There’s been no shortage of plaudits for 19-year-old tennis star Emma Raducanu who made history when she won the US Open and has just been crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.
But no-one’s message of congratulations went quite so viral as former Liverpool and England footballer turned pundit Michael Owen, and this is why.
And if you’re thinking it was slightly odd to congratulate Raducanu with a picture of yourself then you weren’t the Owen-ly one.
